Art’s Protected Status in the New U.S. Tariff Landscape

Hi collectors,

We are actively monitoring the evolving U.S. trade and tariff landscape. I’m happy to share some encouraging news with you:

As of now, original artworks and photographs remain exempt from recently announced tariffs on U.S. imports.

This exemption is grounded in U.S. law, specifically, the latest tariffs enacted in April 2025 under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA)—a statute that explicitly prohibits restrictions on cultural and informational materials. This includes original artworks, prints, photographs, and other expressive works.

We’ve confirmed this with both our logistics and customs processing partners and their guidance is clear: collectors in the United States will not face additional duties or tariffs when purchasing and importing original artworks from abroad. Their shopping experience remains seamless.

The exemption of artworks from the latest tariffs is not incidental. It is rooted in longstanding protections that ensure the free flow of cultural and informational materials is preserved and celebrated. Most importantly, it is a testament to the singular, enduring value of the art that each of you create.

We’ve proactively communicated this to our U.S. collector base to make sure every potential purchase is completed without any uncertainty and hesitation, and with just enthusiasm for their beautiful new works.

At Artisbetter, we’ve always believed in the power of art to transcend all boundaries, cultural and geographic. This latest news is yet another poignant reminder of our conviction, and it further fuels our organization’s mission to share your work with the global community.

As always, we are here to help both our artists & collectors. If you have further questions, please reach out to our team via Email by info@artisbetter.com.

We are reminded again that beauty knows no borders. Let your art continue to move hearts and find new homes around the world.
